What kind of dancing?
no subject
The formal kinds. Ballroom. A little bit of swing. My waltz is pretty good.

Gonna get straight to the point. We both like art and dancing, so we have enough in common to hold down a conversation. There's a pre New Year's party tomorrow night. Wanna be my plus one?
If we meet up and you can't stand me, I won't hold it against you if you go.

Just yourself.
Tell me where to meet you and I'll be there at nine.

How about outside the community housing building?
no subject
I'll be there.
[TJs pretty damned pleased with himself. He's got a handsome date and the night's looking up already. Getting dressed is a good time. He puts on the only nice clothes he has here, exactly what he'd told Steve to wear but in all black, and he spends a few extra minutes making sure he'd gone through the checklist.
Hair. Breath. Cologne. Check, check, check.
Ten til nine he heads down to stand outside the front doors of the housing building, jacket curled up around his chin to block out the cold.]

He settles on a pair of dark grey slacks and a nice dark blue button up that brings out his eyes. He's opening the door and stepping out only a minute or two after TJ arrives. It's better to be a little early then late after all.
Seeing him standing there his expression goes from surprise to a smile that he hopes is suitably charming.]
Hi.
[Smooth.]
no subject
But it's not his practically perfect body that has TJs nerves shooting sky high. It's the charming smile. Great. He's probably a doofus inside that beefcake exterior. Kryptonite to all the TJ Hammond's in the world.]
Hi.
[He sticks his hand out into the small space between them.]
TJ. [A slight, thoughtful pause.] You look amazing, by the way.
no subject
Swallowing, he rallies to bring his smile back and accepts TJ's hand in a firm grip.]
Steve. And thank you. You clean up pretty good yourself.
[Oh god. His flirt game is so weak with disuse. Help.]
no subject
[It was genuine and that was appealing, in its own right. TJ preferred sincerity even if he wasn’t always as keen to give it. But Steve started with that and TJ was helpless but to reciprocate.]
How about you take my arm and make everyone at that party damn jealous?
[Of TJ, that is. Steve was hot. Beautiful even. He was lucky to have him join him tonight. He sticks his arm out in invitation, holding it crooked at the elbow.]
Figured we could dance. Eat. Learn about each other.
no subject
It felt...nice. To feel wanted like that again.]
You sure know how to make a guy feel special. [It's teasing but he's more then pleased with that game plan. He loves dancing and food. The conversation would just be a bonus.]
Why don't we get a head start on that last bit? [They do have a good walk ahead of them.] How long have you been here?
[It seems like the most obvious place to start.]
no subject
Only because you're making it easy.
[They do have a bit of a walk ahead of them and TJs not really in a rush to make it there fast. In fact, they don't have to make it there at all. He's just pleased to be out on the date and whatever happens, happens.]
About a month. Yourself?
[He had to assume at least longer than him. Maybe not but Steve appeared confident in that regard.]
Not really in a rush to go home either.
no subject
Really? Not much longer then me. I arrived a couple weeks ago. At the beginning of the month.
[He tosses TJ a questioning look at his following statement.]
Why is that?
no subject
Yeah. Haven't been here all that long.
[Still getting his footing and figuring out where he stands.]
There's nobody there.
[He shrugs. He's not good company for himself.]
no subject
I'm sorry to hear that.
[Time for a redirect.]
What about the Quarantine? Neither of us have been here long, but you must have some opinion of it so far.
no subject
I think there's something fucked up going on.
[He presses closer to Steve's side, a frown tugging his lips down.]
Don't know what. But this is all pretty strange, right?
